Eat. Adapt. Keep swimming.

Primordial is our cell-evolution game prototype. You guide an organism through a microscopic ocean, gather food, encounter other creatures and earn the DNA needed to change your body.

Evolution is hands-on. Open the organism editor, experiment with body shape and organs, and return to the ocean to see how the new form behaves. Feeding, movement and combat are connected to the creature you build.

The current prototype includes a catalogue of twelve organ types, with a starting selection and additional discoveries. Mouths, eyes, locomotion and defensive organs give players different ways to explore the world.

A body with a physical presence.

Cells and obstacles are built with Three.js. Rapier handles three-dimensional collisions while the creatures’ centres remain constrained to their swimming plane. A deformable body axis connects the creature’s visual shape and attached organs.

Flagella trail behind turns. Eyes respond to combat. Membranes, floating food and water effects make the environment feel alive. Canvas supplies the interface and additional visual layers around the 3D scene.

This project shows another side of our work alongside mobile adaptation: creating a game’s systems, interaction, procedural visuals and editing tools.

Built to be played with your hands.

The touch interface includes a virtual swimming stick, zoom controls, a compact HUD and access to the organism editor. Wider screens give the ocean and editing tools more space.

Progress is stored locally. You can continue a saved organism and world; unfinished editor changes become part of the playable form when you return to the ocean.

One game, two ways to explore.

The browser version runs immediately at the link below. The Android prototype bundles the game, rendering and physics dependencies in an offline WebView shell. It has its own launcher icon, fullscreen handling and a separate local save area.

The APK is a directly installable, debug-signed prototype, not a Google Play release. Android 9 or newer, a current Android System WebView and a WebGL 2-capable device are required. Browser saves do not automatically transfer into the app.

Browser checks cover touch controls and the editor; the Android package’s local assets are checked separately for startup and save/reload. Native fullscreen, Android lifecycle behaviour and performance still need physical-device testing.

Project notes.

Developed as an independent game prototype, inspired by the cell-evolution genre. Primordial is separate from our adaptation of the open-source shapez game.

Technology: Three.js, Rapier, JavaScript, Canvas, WebGL and an Android WebView shell. Third-party dependency license texts are included in the Android package.
